Register on DGFT and go global.

What the IEC is and why you need it

The Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) is a 10-digit code from DGFT that nearly every Indian trader needs to import or export.

Without it, banks won't process your trade payments and customs won't clear your goods.

Documents you'll need

  • PAN card of the business or individual
  • A current bank account and cancelled cheque
  • Address proof and business registration
  • A valid email and mobile for OTP

Step-by-step application

Register on dgft.gov.in, fill the IEC form, upload documents, pay the fee and submit.

The IEC is usually issued quickly and is valid for life, though you must confirm it each year.

After you get your IEC

Complete AD Code registration at your port, link GST, and you're ready to file shipping bills.

Get your IEC sorted this week.
